APC Muslim-Muslim Presidential Ticket, Our Position Remains, Say CAN Northern Leadership
The Muslim-Muslim APC Presidential ticket still curse troubles water which is a possible bottleneck to the ruling party come 2023 General Election as Christian community are not yet settled.
The Party Struggles Started after Tinubu, APC Presidential Candidate decided to Pick Shettima,former Governor of Bornu State to be his running mate inspite of all the advices of some party Chieftains and the out cry of Christians calling for Balance and National-Religious equity.
It was reported yesterday after an Islamic prominent clergy, Gumi Faulted the all Muslim ticket of the APC Presidential candidate after he spoke with News men in Kaduna,saying the combination is not necessary.
The chairmen of the Christian Association of Nigeria (19 Northern States and Abuja) on Tuesday intensified their opposition to the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the All Progressives Congress, saying they would not change their position.
They stated their position during a meeting convened by a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; and a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, both members of the APC, which held in Abuja.
Dogara later announced the meeting on his Twitter handle.
He said the meeting with the Christian leaders from the North and FCT was to decide on a pan-Nigerian platform to embrace in the 2023 elections.
“#NigeriaDecides2023- The Fight for Justice Continues. Today, we held a Consultative Meeting with Christian Leaders From the 19 Northern States and the FCT on the pan-Nigerian platform to adopt in 2023,” he tweeted:“We will also wait for signals from our (CAN) national body". They will also point us to the way to go, but the Muslim-Muslim ticket is out of the equation.
