Jibrin Receives Slapes For Calling On President Buhari To Resign.

The suspended former chairman of the House of Representatives appropriation committee, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to resign and hand over to a competent person.

Jibrin said in a series of tweets via his Twitter handle yesterday that the president had failed Nigerians, and should therefore immediately leave the stage.

“So many issues are left unattended even small issues that a presidential cough can deal with are left hanging. Supporters are worried, understandably resorting to grumbling in hush voices while keeping bold faces and holding on to hope and prayers. I believe that the combination of these two factors of his age and health situation have slowed down the pace of PMB and the APC government. The incoming president will have to do some diplomatic shuttle to a few powerful officials to address what ever their fears may be,” he said.

But the Executive Director of Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC), Auwal Musa Rafsanjani, said Jibrin’s statement was reckless and irresponsible.

“It’s a careless statement coming from someone who was accused of serious corruption. Nigerians have seen how this administration is tackling corruption and impunity. For such kind of person to make this statement, I think it’s very careless and irresponsible.

“He should remember that he was already being accused of defrauding the country along with his core travellers. I think he just wants to get cheap publicity,” he said.

Jibrin is currently on suspension from the House of Representatives after being sanctioned last year by the House following his allegations against the speaker, Yakubu Dogara, of mishandling the federal budget.
