EFCC Power Broken As Court Ordered Formal First Lady's $5.9million Account Unfreeze

The wife of Formal President Jonathan gains victory over the EFCC as court ordered her account unfreeze after along period of legal battle.

The formal first lady has been in a tense legal battle with the EFCC after her husband, formal president Jonathan lost the presidential election due to allegations that an account was linked to her name with a woping sum of $9.5million. The agency freezed the account for more than one year while the legal battle was still in court.

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered the EFCC, to unfreeze the account of former first lady Patience Goodluck Jonathan. The account contains $5.9 million.

EFCC had called for an investigation into the accounts following claims that they were being used for money laundering and that the money found in them were proceeds of crime. The account was frozen in December last year.
