Senator Magnus Abe Hails Nigeria Senators For Supporting Democracy In Rivers State.

Magnus Abe
Once again, the Most Distinguished Senator Magnus Abe nailed it on Rhythm 93.7 this morning as only he can.
He was reacting to the Senate's ultimatum to INEC to conclude the rerun elections in Rivers State in four weeks. He welcomed the Senate's intervention and expressed readiness for the election. But he said more.

He also said that Governor Wike has been faulting INEC that if the commission could successfully conduct elections in Sambisa, the hotbed of insurgency in Borno State, it cannot cite insecurity for its inability to conclude the rerun elections in Rivers State. Senator Abe said that INEC could conduct elections in Sambisa because the Borno State Governor cooperated with INEC, he was not threatening INEC staff on radio and television, calling out their names and asking them to write their will or drown in the Bonny River.

Abe said the reason why INEC has not been able to conclude the legislative elections in Rivers State is because Governor Wike has been publicly threatening and declaring fatwa on INEC officials. Thus, the difference between Borno and Rivers State is that in Borno, the governor cooperated with INEC to see that peaceful, free and fair elections were conducted, but in Rivers State, Governor Wike did not only refuse to cooperate and work with the commission, he has also been threatening death and harm on them.
