HIGH CHIEF Thomas Osen Ekpemupolo, 84-year-old father of ex-militant leader, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, amputated in July, over a month after soldiers allegedly brutalized him in Kurutie, Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State, is dead.

 A dependable source, who broke the news to Vanguard said: “He died in the early hours of Wednesday at Lily Hospital in Warri South local government area, Warri.” Until his death, he was the Tunteriwei of Gbaramatu kingdom, Warri South-West local government area with traditional headquarters in Oporoza.

According to Scannews, quoting Vangaurd report, said that a dependable source reviled that the father of Government Ekpemupolo died due to injuries he sustained when military invaded the community in search of militant.

The source reported that the old man was taken to hospital in Warri where he was admitted in Lily Hospital, a private Hospital in Warri, Delta State.
The Hospital Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Austin Okugun when contacted said , he is out of Town but a medical officer of the Hospital did not give any medical report to that effect but confirmed the death report to be true.

However, the IYC Ijaw Youth Council condole with the family for the great  and untimely death of Chief Thomas Osen Ekpemupolo, 84 years old, father of x-militant leader Tompolo.
IYC said his death will always be felt in the kingdom of Gbaramatu. They asked the people and the family to take solemn in God, for the departed though suffered till death the injuries he sustained why running from the military invasion makes his departure painful and unfortunate.

Spokesperson of the IYC,Omaro Eric, said Tompolo's  Father became a victim of the military unlawful invasion in the Niger Delta remains the most Painful thing when he received the news of his death.
