Governor Wike Seeks To Scatter PDP Before 2023 Election

 

 The Leadership crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party just after the Presidential Party Primary which saw the defect of Governor Wike of Rivers State by former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar is deepen.

Governor Wike's  camp claims that the PDP Leadership cannot zone the Party Chairman and Presidential ticket to same Geo-Political zone,thereby demanded that the Chairman of the party, Senator Iyiochia Ayu be changed. 

According to Vanguard Report, Fayose of Ekiti State and Governor Wike are projecting former Governor of Bornu State Ali Modu Sheriff  for the Substitute of National party chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Sheriff’s tenure inflicted on the PDP a leadership tussle never before seen in the party’s close to two decades of existence. It was brought to its knees such that it took the intervention of the Supreme Court to restore normalcy with the interim leadership of Sen. Ahmed Makarfi.

The experience of Governor Wike after the Presidential primary after still temped as his faithfuls where expecting him to be considered for the Vice president's slot since he came second and following his capacity in the South South but was dashed by the turned around in the party when his colleague, Gov.Okowa of Delta State from the same South South was picked worsting the agitations and ranging of fire and stones in the PDP from the Wike's camp which the National Excos may pay for soon if care is not taken. 

The spill over of the decision of the Party, not considering Gov. Wike for Atiku's running mate is almost taking the end of the PDP National Chairman as Wike camp moves serious to unset Senator Iyiochia.

 According to Mr. Adakole Moses,An Abuja-based public affairs commentator, said the party will be shooting itself in the foot if it does not find a decent way to handle Wike’s concerns.

Also,Anuga, A Political Science lecturer in University Of Jos said that "When the Party founding fathers Jumped ship and others steps in to fund the party,it will be unimaginable for those that sponsored the party not to seek to promote their interest.

He added, “People join political parties as a vehicle to actualize their personal or group interests. Governor Wike stepped in when others ran, you can’t blame him for seeking to benefit from the investment of his time, energy and resources in the party.”
