Governor Sanwo-Olu To Build African Film And Media City In Lagos
The Governor of Lagos State who bags support from the embattled Governor of Rivers State, Governor Wike recently signed the MOU with Del-York Group and Storyland Studios on Wednesday, October 12th, 2022.
Governor Sanwo-OLu who has been in the media following his new romance with Wike is another Governor with footprint in infrastructural development.
Under the administration of His Excellency Governor
Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos State Government signs a Memorandum of
understanding with Del-York Group, in partnership with Storyland
Studios, to build the Africa Film & Media City.
This agreement was officiated at the 9th Ehingbeti Lagos
Economic Summit, themed "Charting the Paths To Sustainable
Socio-Economic Growth." Here, Lagosians, public and private sector
stakeholders discussed Lagos State's economic progression across
sectors.
This venture is fundamental to the African film industry
as it means more international producers can domesticate their
filmmaking operations and have a pool of trained professionals they can
draw on to produce quality, high-grossing box-office content.
The Africa Film & Media City will make history as
the first of its kind in Africa, comparable only to foreign creative
industries in Europe and the USA. It will open Lagos State even more to
foreign visitors and attract investment. It will also create thousands
of jobs for Lagosian, keeping Lagos on the path to becoming an
ultramodern city.
