97th PDP NEC Meeting, Senator Ayu, National Chairman Presides Over NEC Meeting Despite The Call To Step Down By Gov. Wike And Others
The call for the resignation of the PDP Chairman, senator Ayu following the emergence of Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of PDP since they both are from the same Political zone is still on top gear as Governor Wike of Rivers State stiil calls for him step aside from his Position as he promised.
The Governor of Rivers State, Wike drums his demand during a commissioning ceremony in Ahoada today.
There have been calls for Ayu's removal as the chairman of the main opposition party, and among those calling for his removal is Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike. The governor argues that since the Presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar, is from the North, the party chairman should come from the South. Ayu has however rejected these calls saying there was no agreement for him to step down once a presidential candidate emerges.
However, it was observed today that the embattled chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Iyiocha Ayu, still presided over the 97th National Executive Committee meeting of the party despite the outcry of equity and fairness within the party as Governor Wike keeps drumming.
Wike has given his words, not to relent effort till Senator Ayu Steps down for equity and fairness which PDP is known for in Nigeria since 1999.
At the meeting today, Ayu started by announcing the exit of the Board of Trustees Chairman, Sen. Walid Jibrin, and announced former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara as the acting Chairman, of the party’s BoT. Prior to his appointment, Wabara, was the Secretary of the PDP BoT.
