Alfa Belgore who is a former chief justice of the Nigeria has said that President Muhammadu Buhari’s post homous award of Grand Commander of the Federal Republic to Chief MKO Abiola was illegal. Premium Tunes reports that Belgore said this on Wednesday, June 6 after the president’s decision to honor Abiola.

He said: “It is not done. It is for people living.” Belgore who is the chairman of the 2016 national honours committee also said he “was not consulted” by the Buhari administration before the decision was taken. He explained that "under the 1963 National Honours Act, only soldiers or other servicemen could be awarded posthumous medals for their bravery.

Also, the PDP has criticized the action of President Buhari to honor the death.

According to the PDP Post on their twitter handle, they claimed that President Buhari was part of the government that slapes this injustice to Abiola and he has no morals to award the death.

PDP also said that President Buahri never sympathized with the death of the hero, so he can not come now to honor him just for political credits against 2019 which is at the corner.

They warned Nigerians and the Yorubas by extension to know the "use and dump" strategic of President Buhari's administration.
