President Trump And Chinese President Xi Jinping Announce Delegations To 2018 PyeongChang Olympic



Vice President Mike Pence will lead an official US delegation to attend the opening ceremony and events of the PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games in South Korea, President Donald Trump announced on Thursday.

According to a White House statement, Pence’s wife, Karen, will also be a member of the delegation.

Vincent Brooks, commander of US Forces Korea, along with his predecessor, retired general James Thurman, will travel too.

Other members include Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee Ed Royce, diplomat Marc Knapper, and 2002 Olympic gold medalist in ladies figure skating Sarah Hughes.

The Winter Olympics are scheduled to be held from February 9 to 25.

Also Chinese President Xi Jinping, has delegated special representatives, Han Zheng, who will attend the opening ceremony of the 23rd Winter Olympic Games on February 9 in PyeongChang at the invitation of South Korean President Moon Jae-in and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying announced on Friday.


Han was elected a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
