Johannesburg’s South Seacom Deal: Seacom Rollout New Fibre Network In Johannesburg.
In line with its plans to extend the reach of its fibre network to
more parts of South Africa, SEACOM has kicked off the rollout of
high-speed fibre internet in the southern areas of Johannesburg.
SEACOM owns Africa’s most extensive ICT data infrastructure and is the preferred partner for African businesses, network carriers and service providers.
The initial rollout of eight kilometres of fibre will provide access to business and households in Meyersdal, Alberton- the first phase in a plan to roll out in greater Johannesburg.
“We’re in the advanced stages of our plans to enable commercial users and consumers in Johannesburg’s south to connect directly to SEACOM and experience the power of fast, affordable smart fibre to the home and business,” said Kevin South, Head of SEACOM Business.
SEACOM Business brings broadband and cloud services to commercial users through a direct sales force and a growing network of channel partners.
Since its launch in 2016, it has connected more than one thousand enterprise customers in Kenya and South Africa enabled by interconnect agreements with last-mile suppliers and securing wireless network access in areas without last-mile fibre to grow its reach in these countries.
It has partnered with various resellers who are taking pre-orders for fibre internet access to serve the home, retail and business markets across the South of Johannesburg.
The services are expected to go live by the end of 2017.
