 The report of the mysterious death of Chris Cornell is still a confused issue to fan and faithfuls as they imagine what could led to his decision.

According to TMZ Reports,the story that surrounds the death of the 52 year old left people in dip thought and questions that the recent released report of the Detroit police is not yet an answer.

The office released the cause of death Thursday as a "suicide by hanging" ... hours after Cornell's body was discovered in a Detroit hotel room following a concert. A full autopsy report, including toxicology results has not yet been completed.

We're told Chris' wife, Vicky, became concerned when she couldn't reach the Soundgarden frontman after his show, and police discovered his body on the bathroom floor.

When police entered Chris Cornell's Detroit hotel room they found his belongings, his prescriptions ... and the exercise apparatus he used to commit suicide.

Detroit PD just released the photos they took of the room during their investigation, and they reveal the bathroom scene where Chris died. The exercise band he rigged on the bathroom door was on the floor, surrounded by a streak of blood.

There were 3 prescription bottles -- prednisone (anti-inflammatory), omeprazole (antacid) and lorazepam (anti-anxiety).

In the room itself ... one of Chris' guitars was on a chair, and his iconic shades were on the unmade bed.

The Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office ruled Cornell's death a suicide by hanging.
