Kano State Police Command Parades 22 Suspected Kidnappers


The Kano State Police Command said it has successfully bust a notorious kidnapping hub and arrested 22 suspected kidnappers and armed bandits terrorising communities around Falgore and Gomo Forests in Doguwa and Sumalia Local Government Area of the state.

Speaking to newsmen on Tuesday, September 6th, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Rabiu Yusuf, who paraded the suspects, attributed the success of his anti-kidnapping unit to their following the criminals into Falgore and Gomo forests where they were operating.

Among the suspects arrested during the operations on August 31, is a wanted notorious kidnapper, Nasiru Tasi’u of Bakin Daji, who fired at police when he sighted them.
"The Rano Area Commander was directed to relocate his office to the most affected axis to ensure effective supervision of the men deployed,"Mr Yusuf said.

Items recovered from the suspects include four fabricated AK47 rifles, nine motorcycles, two face masks, 96 cows, 33 sheep and one dog. 56 rounds of live ammunition, some quantity of drugs, two expanded cartridges, two GSM phones, a bow and arrow, axe and machete and N200, 000 cash.
He reiterated that the police commitment to partnering with other security agencies to flush out criminals in the state.

"Crime fighting is a collective effort, so we call on good citizens of the state to partner with the police to secure and keep Kano State safer for both political and economic activities to flourish," the commissioner said.
The District Head of Doguwa, Alhaji Aliyu Harazimi, who was present at the briefing along with other traditional rulers from the area, commended the commissioner for his efforts in fighting against crime.
