Don’t sell NLNG, other national assets- RMAFC acting chairman advises FG


The Federal government has been advised against selling off National assets such as its shares in Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas ltd NLNG and other assets, as a way of getting out of the current economic recession. 

Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote, had in an interview with CNBC last week, advised the Federal government to sell off some of its National assets as part of measures to revive the economy.

In a statement released yesterday September 20th, acting Chairman of the  Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Shettima Abba-Gana, said it will be unwise for the government to sell off its key investment just to address its short-term financial crisis.

 According to him, assets such as NLNG are some of the main revenue generators of the government.
"It is the considered view of the commission that Nigeria’s assets like NLNG and other strategic national resources should not be sold to meet short-term financial obligation”he said
According to Abba-Gana, the amount expected to be generated from the sale of some of the nations assets should could be borrowed from the International Monetary Fund.

The federal government of Nigeria in a plan to save Nigeria economic is almost set to put up one of the most
biggest investment in the nation up for private investor for money.
We have to be careful when people like Dangote now becomes the economic adviser of this nation, most Nigerians reacted.
