Ledum Mitee Warns Federal Government Against Misappropriating Fund For Ogoni Cleanup

 


 Barrister Ludum Mitee has called on the Federal Government to allow for a free flow of audit in the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project(Hyprep).

The Ogoni born activist,Lawyer and environmentalist advice the Government on the ongoing cleanup exercise in Ogoni Land which he said is not going on as supposed.


 

OnA Radio program,Point Blank on SuperFM, the lawyer said,Hyprep Audit should not end like that of the NDDC that has stopped the constitution of the (NDDC) Board for over two years now.

He added that the act has affected the People of the Oil rich region because the NDDC is put on a stand still.

He prays that the Federal Government should do the needful to ensure the cleanup exercise in Ogoni is implementation as planned.

He regrets the years Hyprep has been on the Soil of Ogoni, but nothing or less to show.

The former MOSOP president stated that the directive by the presidency to audit the operations of HYPREP from inception to date should not be a replay of what was witnessed in the forensic audit of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Former President of the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP) Ledum Mitee has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to demonstrate that the Ogoni clean-up exercise was not intended to create political jobs for his allies.

Mitee expressed this in a statement credited to him while expressing concern about the sanctity of oil spill clean-up in the Ogoni environment under the supervision of the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP).
